SWIFTBUILD DIY INTERIOR SHUTTERS FAQS

Are SwiftBuilt DIY Shutters inside or outside mount?

SwiftBuilt DIY Shutters are interior, inside-mount shutters—designed to fit inside your window frame for a clean, built-in look.

Inside mount shutters are designed to fit inside the window frame for a clean, built-in look. With SwiftBuilt DIY Shutter Kits, this means the frame and shutter panels are sized to sit snugly within the window opening. This type of installation is ideal for showcasing your trim and creating a seamless, finished appearance without protruding beyond the wall.

Tip: Measure the width and height of your window opening carefully before selecting your kit size to ensure a perfect fit.

Not at this time. SwiftBuilt DIY Shutter Kits are available in select standard sizes and are not customizable for non-standard or uniquely sized windows.

To ensure the best fit, we recommend measuring your window carefully and selecting the kit size that fits within your window frame dimensions.

Tip: If your window doesn’t match one of our available sizes, consider using SwiftBuilt Shutters on another window in your home where a standard size will fit.

Painting or staining SwiftBuilt Shutters is not recommended.

Each kit comes in a clean, white finish that’s designed to look great right out of the box—no additional finishing required. This durable surface ensures a consistent look and long-lasting performance without the hassle of paint or stain.

SwiftBuilt Shutters are designed to provide excellent light control and privacy. When the louvers are fully closed, they significantly reduce incoming sunlight—but they do not offer total blackout.

These shutters are ideal for:

  • Filtering harsh sunlight during the day
  • Providing privacy at night
  • Enhancing energy efficiency by reducing heat gain

For maximum room darkening: You can pair SwiftBuilt Shutters with curtains or shades if complete blackout is needed.

Building instructions are included, but installation instructions are not.

SwiftBuilt DIY Shutter kits include step-by-step building instructions to help you assemble the shutter panels with ease.

However, installation instructions (how to mount the shutters into your window) are not included. We recommend basic DIY skills and encourage you to watch our online video guide for installation tips. NEEDED

Measure the Width (Inside Frame):
Measure the inside width of your window in three places: top, middle, and bottom.

  • Record the narrowest measurement.

Measure the Height (Inside Frame):
Measure the inside height of your window in three places: left, center, and right.

  • Record the shortest measurement.

Double Check for Squareness:
If the width and height measurements vary by more than ¼”, your window may be slightly out of square. SwiftBuilt DIY Shutter kits are forgiving, but for the best look, choose the size that fits the tightest part of your window.

Choose the Closest Kit Size:
Select the SwiftBuilt DIY Shutter Kit that’s equal to or slightly smaller than your window opening. Our kits are designed to install easily within standard-sized frames.
